HOUSING AUTHORITY PROGRAMS
Public Housing Program:
Provides housing to income qualified applicants.  The Housing
Authority currently has five properties totaling 202 units, with
efficiency, 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom units.  The Housing Authority
also manages 30 dual-designated Public Housing/Low Income
Housing Tax Credit units.

Section 8 Rental Assistance Program:

Provides rental assistance to income qualified applicants.  Once
participants receive a voucher from the Housing Authority they are
then able to find housing in the community.  The Housing
Authority currently has 200 vouchers in the Manhattan, Ogden,
Riley, St. George, and Wamego communities.

There is such a need for this program in the community that the
waiting list for the Section 8 program usually consists of a six
month to one year wait.

Gardens at Flint Hills Tax Credit Program:

Provides rental housing to income qualified applicants at below
market rents.  The Housing Authority currently has property
located at the corner of Manhattan and Kimball that has 2 and 3
bedroom units.

To assist low-income individuals and families with obtaining the
skills needed to secure permanent quality employment.  This
program is
only offered to Section 8 Rental Assistance
